LAS Compatibility Charts

Question:

What combinations of operating system / browser / server has LAS been tested on?

Explanation:

The LAS User Interface uses HTML, java and Javascript. We have attempted to use these in a cross-browser compatible fashion. If you have tried the LAS user interface or server on a system we haven't tested yet, please send a note to las@pmel.noaa.gov

One of the greatest hurdles to cross-browser support is the lack of uniform support for JavaScript calls to applet methods. LAS v6+ improves on earlier versions by failing over to a non-applet interface when this capability is lacking in a browser. For a quick test of whether your browser supports this capability we direct you to Peter Kofler's test page:
http://kofler.dot.at/browsersupport/jsapplet.html

LAS has been tested on the following:

works

User Interface Tables: LAS 6.x, LAS 5.x, LAS 4.x

fails

Server Tables: LAS 6.x, LAS 5.x, LAS 4.x

works in 'no-applet' mode

... ...

not tested

Note: If your browser doesn't fail-over, you may access the 'no-applet' mode on LAS 6.x by appending '?use_java=false' to the URL. For example: http://someserver/las/servlets/dataset?use_java=false
